Corby Anderson regularly counseled clients on data privacy issues, particularly in the franchise, retail, and food and beverage industries. Corby drafted and reviewed website privacy policies and terms of use. She also reviewed companies’ business practices, including their marketing, advertising and promotional campaigns, for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and industry self-regulatory guidelines. She advised clients on data breaches involving customers’ payment card data and patients’ medical records. Corby’s practice focused on commercial litigation, with an emphasis on franchise, intellectual property, and new media law. She litigated cases in federal courts throughout the United States, as well as in North Carolina’s trial and appellate courts. She represented clients in trials and appeals involving trademark, copyright, trade secret, patent, unfair competition, false advertising and defamation claims, as well as other contract and business tort disputes.

Corby was a frequent speaker on data privacy and security, intellectual property, and social media issues. She made presentations on these topics to the Association of Corporate Counsel, the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising, the National Association of Licensing and Compliance Professionals, and the North Carolina Bar Association, as well as to corporations in the retail and franchise sectors.
